whoops. thanks for the heads up. I got it and I'll have him join. we'll probably have 13, may not get the 14th. i think it's fine if we have an odd number since it's not H2H.
btw, blueorrfan from the old league is out and have not heard at all from happyfrenchman, so i assume he's out too.

one other point i missed, the order for the prospect draft should be the reverse of the regular draft, that way the team with the 12th pick in the nhl draft doesn't have an unfair disadvantage in both drafts.

Agree with the above. And I think any number between 12 and 14 is great as far as number of teams go. As you mentionned, in a straight-points league it doesn't matter whether the number is even or odd.

The reverse order for the prospect draft is fine, as long as this inaugural prospect draft also follows the snake format (all other years can be done non-snake reverse order of the standings (lottery depending)). The snake format is meant to negate to some extent the advantage of picking early versus late.

agreed sly, both will be snake, but order will just be reverse of the NHL draft for the prospect draft.

I'm late in the game here, joining the board. See lots of activity and comments, exciting.
Agree with the above... ie: snake, randomize draft list (As long as i'm first.. haha), and reverse order for Prospect vs NHL.
I see the draft is this Sunday... at 745pm. I can maybe make that time (any earlier and definitely not). I'll make sure to do my pre-picks just in case.. I didn't see any mention about the prospect draft - will is be at the same time? Do we need to be here for that?? how does that one work?

Mike,
Thanks for letting me know. Yes, you can set a list to autodraft from. Prospects draft won't be an issue since it'll be a slow draft on proboards, so don't worry about that.
One thing to keep in mind, the prospects draft is for all players without a game of NHL experience, while the NHL yahoo draft is for all players with at least one game of NHL experience. So when you set your yahoo rankings, be sure to not include Drouin or Ekblad for example. You can include a guy like Kuznetsov or Teravainen though.
The rule for everyone will be if you pick someone in the yahoo draft that is only eligible for the prospect draft, you will lose the pick and end up with an empty spot after the draft. Sucks but that's the only way to do it. You'll then have to fill that spot with a waiver player. I'll try to come up with a list of players not to draft and post it here.
Best, James

Mike, the draft is actually at 4:45pm PST. Important distinction for those of us in that time zone!
EDIT: that's 445 PST, not EST. It's 745 EST.

Yep - sorry, my mistake. That's what I meant - will need to get adjusted to knowing who's in what timezone.

haha no worries. my fault for not specifying. I'm EST and I forgot the earth is large and spins so it's not the same time everywhere.

Yeah my Yahoo settings were on PST for whatever reason (apparently someone at Yahoo doesn't know how to find Ottawa, Canada on a map) so I was under the impression the draft was starting at 4:45. Good to know it'll be 7:45.
